Congratulations, you’re getting married!
The world can be your oyster. With so many options for that first vacation as a married couple, the choices are limitless. However, have you thought of dreaming outside the box? That honeymoon that you truly will remember for a lifetime?!
Sure you want to sit on a gorgeous beach, but how about hanging out with a herd of elephants while doing that?! We have sent clients to Africa for their honeymoon and here a just a few of the many options…
#1. First up on our list is Botswana.
The country is land locked in the heart of southern Africa. This is a great destination for adventurous couples. With opportunities to visit the Okavango Delta to the diverse ecosystems of Chobe National Park, this is the honeymoon of many memories. Botswana boasts a range of luxury and affordable lodges and camps set in breathtaking locations. These offer privacy and intimate settings in untouched and remote parts of the country.
Botswana is the home of rich cultures, including the San Bushmen, who have inhabited the region for thousands of years.
Traditional and local cuisine and music bring forth a unique African experience.
While in Botswana, you will want to visit the Chobe National Park. The opportunity to see elephants in their natural habitat along with lions, cheetahs, buffalo, and the rare rhino brings visitors from around the world to this safari destination.
#2. Up next is the unique city of Cape Town, South Africa
Renowned for its stunning natural landscapes, including Table Mountain, the Twelve Apostles mountain range, and pristine beaches such as Camps Bay and Clifton. With a little bit of everything, Cape Town offers unique and picturesque romantic backgrounds for your honeymoon adventure.
For the adventurous couple, you can go paragliding from Signal Hill or shark cage diving in Gansbaai. Or maybe your adventure will lead you to just outside of Cape Town to Cape Winelands. As you might be able to tell, this area is where you can embark on wine tours and tastings in beautiful landscapes.
The Cape Town area is well known for its great hospitality, culinary delights, including trendy eateries and lively food markets. You can indulge in fresh seafood, exotic game meats, and fusion cuisine.
When in South Africa you should check out the Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Beach (home to African penguins), and Chapman’s Peak Drive, considered one of the most scenic coastal routes in the world.
#3. The Seychelles
Finally, a unique destination that a few of our clients have visited and speak so highly of. A group of 115 islands located off the eastern coast of Africa in the Indian ocean is The Seychelles.
The pristine, white sandy beaches framed by the crystal-clear turquoise waters, make this area a paradise to visit. Anse Source d’Argent on La Digue island is often cited as one the most beautiful beaches in the world.
This area of the world offers luxurious resorts and private villas that are nestled among the lush tropical landscapes. These offer intimate and secluded settings for your honeymoon vacation.
Whether you prefer diving, snorkeling, sailing, or hiking, the Seychelles have wonderful opportunities with each step or kick to see some of the most intriguing animals in the world. From giant Sea Turtles to rare bird species on Cousin Island, you will leave with memories for a lifetime.
