Victoria Hill, owner of A Touch of an Angel Florist, has more than 40 years of experience as a professional floral designer but her love of flowers began even earlier.

“I love all kinds of flowers and gardening, and after experiencing the horticulture program at my high school and working for many different shops, I just fell in love with it and decided to start my own,” she said.

“I just love making people happy with what I do – to WOW! people and to express their emotions with flowers.”

To share her love and knowledge of flowers with others, Victoria purchased A Touch of an Angel Florist from a co-worker in 2005, and never changed the name, only added the tagline, “we deliver a perfect bloom” – because that’s exactly what they do.

Another thing that hasn’t changed - her whimsical garden design style, and the fact that she never turns anyone away; putting the same care and love into her work whether a bride contacts her a year in advance or just three weeks before the big day. Skilled, confident, and willing to work with you within your budget, A Touch of an Angel Florist brings out your unique creative vision.

“This is a special milestone in their life, and we want to make it special for them,” said shop manager Jessica Catone.

Surrounding themselves with the beauty of flowers at home and at work, for fall weddings, A Touch of an Angel Florist harvests florals from their own gardens including hydrangea, zinnias, astilbe, delphinium, sedum, and a variety of foliage. The fluffy, fragrant peony and the ornately structured dahlia are also among Victoria’s favorites to work with. Lending a luscious and lovely style to any affair, they pair big, beautiful blooms with delicious greenery, including bay leaves, mint, Italian Ruscus, pepper berry, and a variety of luscious eucalyptus.  Skilled with both native flowers and big, bold tropicals, they also import their florals from Canada, California, Florida, Columbia, Holland, and elsewhere to ensure your wedding is simply sublime.

They are happy to create mock bouquets, perform site visits, and incorporate your own special finds into their traditional and on-trend designs including tablescapes, bud vase gardens, and pocket boutonnieres.

This year, the mobile flower bar is on trend. Filled with a variety of seasonal blooms for your guests to take home to enjoy, they have been popular for bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, or any special event.

By handcrafting the bodice and adding an invisible zipper hidden in the side seam, they transformed a dress too small to fit onto a size 0 form into a bridal size 8. Over the course of nine fittings (the last just two days before the wedding), a new bustle (embellished with hand-stitched beading) was affixed, the lace skirt repositioned, and an extra layer of tulle added to create volume and a floor-length gown.

Topped with a custom circle-cut cathedral veil, the dress went from being a delicate but sentimental “something old”, to living a new life, as it went seamlessly from ceremony to reception - and dancing!

“I was dropping it low, spinning around, even DJing. It was so perfect!” said Emily.

Granny Rollande, who had traveled three hours to be there, reached out her hand to Emily and smiled, before practically jumping onto the dance floor at the Mohawk River Country Club & Chateau in Rexford herself.
