Our Story...
Nathan and I met in college at Saint Michael’s in Colchester, VT in 2017 after my twin sister, Megan, introduced us at a house party. Via twin intuition- she could tell I had been crushing on a particular hockey player at school. Although if you ask my friends, my college crush was no secret!
We dated for 5 years before getting engaged on October 15th, 2022, in Congress Park, Saratoga Springs. It was a beautiful, warm fall-foliage day. Nathan’s sister Nicole surprised us in the park as our disguised photographer and our parents planned an intimate celebration that evening.
After a couple weeks of being engaged, we adopted the “why wait” mentality. Fort William Henry was the first venue we toured. The Carriage House was undergoing renovations at the time and all we could see was potential. The layout, location, staff, accommodations, and wedding package made our venue feel like home. With family traveling from 17 states, the hotel housed all our guests, who loved the lake views and proximity to downtown Lake George.
We got married on October 7th, 2023, and the newly renovated Carriage House was perfect! Showcasing stunning landscapes, a timeless interior, moody candle lit ambiance, neutral florals, and a Saratoga Racecourse themed decor. We chose a Saratoga quarter pole as our guest book and a racing themed seating chart to incorporate our beloved Spa City. Saratoga is a place and community that brings people together, and our wedding day upheld that feeling. The staff was extremely attentive and the food was Michelin star level. Although it rained, Fort William Henry quickly pivoted to execute a smooth, romantic indoor ceremony for us. Our vendors, family and friends made our day so incredibly special, engraining beautiful memories that we will cherish forever. I can’t think of a better place to celebrate the best thing that has ever happened to me.
Advice to pass along...
Keep it simple. I come from a big family and am close with home and college friends. In the end, I love my big circle, but a large wedding party was too stressful. I kept my wedding party small with just my sister and sister in-law and we had so much fun. Don’t be afraid to be unconvential and do what’s best for you!
