Dylan and I met in high school, I was a sophomore, and he was a senior. It wasn’t until after I graduated and was in my first semester of college that we went on our first date. I knew that he was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with from the very first date.
After five years of dating, while vacationing in Rhode Island, Dylan popped the question! He proposed in front of a lighthouse on Block Island, Rhode Island, just as the sun was beginning to set. Our friends were there taking pictures and it was so romantic. It truly felt like a scene from a movie. And I was SO surprised!
As much as we both love the beach and the ocean, we love the mountains and fresh air of upstate New York. We knew we wanted a rustic and romantic wedding venue. The Barn at Lord Howe Valley was the very first venue that we looked at, and we quickly fell in love! We had brought our Siberian Husky, Maverick, along for the ride. Upon arriving for our tour of the barn, we were greeted by Tim Latchford, husband of Sarah Latchford (owner). He insisted that we bring Maverick along with us for the tour and assured us that it was okay for our fur-baby to be present on our wedding day too!
Anyone that knows us, knows how important that was for us. We knew at that point that we were going to pick The Barn at Lord Howe Valley for our big day. But seeing the gorgeous post and beam barn, and the breathtaking chandeliers and cathedral ceilings, really sealed the deal for us. Sarah and Tim do an amazing job with coordinating the entire weekend, from the rehearsal to the clean up after all the fun is over. Our wedding day could not have been any more beautiful, and we were so thankful for all our vendors that helped to make the day what it was. There was not a single thing we would have changed.
It really was our dream wedding and a perfect day. We were both just so appreciative of being able to spend the day surrounded by all our friends and family whom we love so much!
